Jesse Winchester Signs To Pathfinder Management

Nashville, TN - Jesse Winchester has signed with Jim Della Croce at Pathfinder Management. The acclaimed performer/tunesmith is best known for penning such classics as “The Brand New Tennessee Waltz,” “Little Glass of Wine,” and “Yankee Lady.”

Reputed to be one of Bob Dylan’s favorite songwriters, Winchester was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, raised in Memphis, and now lives in Quebec, Canada, near Montreal. Perhaps the most well known American to have chosen Canadian exile, he took up residence in Canada in 1967 in opposition to the Vietnam War. Once relocated, Winchester began writing songs and playing piano in Montreal cafes.

Fellow Canadian, The Band’s Robbie Robertson, took an interest in Winchester’s music and helped him land and produce his first record with Bearsville Records. (The Band’s Levon Helm added drums and mandolin, while Todd Rundgren engineered.) When President Jimmy Carter issued an amnesty for war resisters in 1977, Winchester was able to reclaim his American citizenship while still retaining his Canadian status.

Winchester’s career spans over thirty years of recording and a dozen albums. Of his most recent work, The New York Times says “. . .[Gentleman of Leisure] just may be his best work since his debut 30 years ago. . . . Welcome back, phantom.”

His songs have been recorded by Reba McEntire, Wynonna, Elvis Costello, the Everly Brothers, Joan Baez, John Denver, The Mavericks, Waylon Jennings and Jimmy Buffett, among others.
Additional details of Winchester’s tour and recording plans will be released soon.
