Forecast Predicts “Good Vibrations” For This Summer!
Capitol Records To Release the Ultimate Summertime Record
Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of The Beach Boys
First Time Ever, The Beach Boys’ 30 Biggest Classics On One Essential CD
In Stores June 10, 2003

Nashville, TN – “Good Vibrations” are coming this summer when Capitol Records releases Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of The Beach Boys on June 10, 2003. The Beach Boys’ 30 biggest hits are now together, for the first time, on one CD. Every song on this collection was a Top 40 single, including 13 top 10’s and 4 #1’s: “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” “Good Vibrations” and “Kokomo.” These sounds of summer are as essential as sunshine for summertime fun.

For four decades, The Beach Boys, originally comprised of the three Wilson brothers: Brian, Carl and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love and Hawthorne, CA neighbor Al Jardine, made music that became America’s soundtrack to summer. Bruce Johnston joined the band in 1965 when Brian Wilson retired from touring.

"Looking at the track listing for this CD is like one giant flashback to my life with The Beach Boys. In fact, it feels like about ten lifetimes ago that I first walked into the Capitol building with my dad and Gary Usher, hoping we might get a contract. Creatively, the 1960s were amazing days for me and the boys, and I remember the people at Capitol kept me very busy in the studio. But you should know we got a kick out of every minute of it. A lot of love went into our singing, our harmonies, the making of those records. I hope that as you listen to it, you still feel the love,” says Brian Wilson.

“It’s fantastic to look out on our concert audiences in the year 2003, the 40th anniversary of “Surfin’ USA”, and seeing the faces of thousands of happy people basking in the sounds of summer. It‘s so great to see kids from 8 to 80 appreciating the good vibrations through the generations,” says Mike Love.

The Beach Boys began singing about America’s newest craze, surfing, in 1961. What followed was a wave of hits that expressed lives, dreams and ambitions with generations of Americans. Their sound, full of sun-drenched harmonies and golden melodies, brings the world a piece of American optimism, and a taste of California where ever the band’s music is played.

Inductees of the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and winners of the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, The Beach Boys are an American institution.

In conjunction with the release of Sounds of Summer, ABC will re-air the movie event "The Beach Boys: An American Family" Saturday, June 14 at 8 Eastern/7 Central.

Capitol Records will also release two more Beach Boys projects this summer:

Pet Sounds, regarded as one of the greatest pop albums ever, will be released on DVD-A in 5.1 Surround Sound on July 22, 2003.

40 Top 40s, is a 2-CD testament to the impact of the band’s music internationally; collecting chart topping singles, memorabilia and stories from around the world. It will be released in September 2003.

The Beach Boys hope their music will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come. “I hope these songs bring the happiness of the summer to everyone,” adds Al Jardine.
As Beach Boy, Bruce Johnston, says, “Our music will always let you know that Summer means fun….forever!”
